Age: 37
Current Characters: N/A
Character: Sachiko Shinozaki
Age: 7 (at time of death, but has existed as a spirit for decades)
Canon: Corpse Party
Canon Point: The game has multiple endings, and in one the attempt to escape Sachiko's cursed school fails by sending the main characters back in time with only one of the playable characters and Sachiko remembering what happened. I am playing her from this point so she is already aware of all that goes on throughout the game and yet still exists as a vengeful spirit.
Background: Once, Sachiko had been an innocent girl. She spent the first 6 years of her life living alongside her mother in a large mansion. Her father had died while she was still young, so she never really knew him. Those first 7 years, aside from losing a father, were quite happy for the girl. While she was a bit shy around people, she was well-behaved and was never a problem for her family.
Sadly, her happiness was not destined to last. Her 7th birthday turned out to be her last one. Her mother worked as a school nurse at in the nearby town, and on the day of her 7th birthday, she was waiting in the school after the students had left. She was supposed to spend the day in town with her after her work day ended. It was supposed to be exciting and fun. It, however, turned out to be the opposite.
Sachiko's mother was not an unattractive woman, and she had caught the eye of the school principal. As Sachiko made her way through the halls of the school to meet up with her mother, said principal was declaring his love to her mother. Sachi's mother wasn't interested though, and was more then a little concerned with just how overly aggressive the man was being. It was less love and more an obsession, and when his hands start getting a little too personal, she started to run. However, the man took this personally. Why would she run? He began to chase after her, trying to convince her the while time he meant no harm.
Regardless of what he meant, he caused her harm. Catching up to her right as she reached a staircase leading downhards, the principal reached out for Sachi's mother, inadvertantly shoving her. He'd been running, so his accidental push sent her flying, landing on the floor below with a horrible crunch. The landing had snapped her neck. Horrified, the principal rushed down the stairs only to find two things that froze the blood in his veins. The first was the state of the woman he'd been chasing. With her neck so clearly broken, she had died almost instantly. The second was Sachiko. The young girl had seen everything. She'd seen her mother running and seen her be shoved. She had landed practically right in front of her own daughter.
Though it had been an accident, he knew that once people found out, his life would be ruined. So he made a choice, a horrible choice. There was only one witness, and she was someone who had no chance of escaping. Sachiko, however, could see the look in his eyes when he started moving towards her. Fearing for her life, the girl ran as fast as she could. In the end, however, he caught up with her. Hands wrapped around her neck, he strangled the life out of the young girl. The school's bomb shelter became her tomb, her corpse being buried in a shallow grave in its furthest corner. With her gone, the school nurse's death was able to be passed off as an accident not involving him.
Of course that was not the end. The Shinozaki family was entrenched within the occult. Neither mother nor daughter passed on to the next life. Sachiko began to haunt the school principal's dreams, driving him crazy to the point he dug her back up and 'killed' her again to attempt to threaten her. Already losing his mind, he removed the tongue of the girl's corpse. In his crazed mind, this act would prevent the girl in his dreams from ever telling anyone who had killed her.
However, Sachiko existed as more then a shadow in the principal's dreams. Her body was dead, but she still wandered the halls of the school. Her death was slowly twisting her personality, the sweet, shy girl becoming a mockery of what she had once been. The school gained a reputation for being cursed, with several children dying under mysterious circumstances. Their deaths were not a coincidence, however. It was Sachiko's doing. She didn't want her mother's spirit to be lonely, so she was bringing the children that she loved into the afterlife with the two of them.
At least that was what the ghostly girl's original reason for her killings. As the years passed, that reason was forgotten, her spirit twisted by cruelty and hatred. She had grown to enjoy it. Making others suffer, to unfairly lose their lives due to no wrongdoing on their own part, it became the reason for her existence. While she had originally tried to make sure no one suffered, seeing the act of taking a life as simply giving her mother more company, this changed as the years passed. She became brutal, the total opposite of what she once was. She went out of her way to make sure things to make others suffer.
While in life she had no time to master the occult powers her family wielded, in death she found plenty of time. Twenty years after her death, she was able to give herself a body with which to interact with the world again. She manipulated the son of the man that had killed her into helping her take even more lives, ending with her committing a vicious triple murder and pinning it on the poor sap who had helped her. She was the 'survivor' as the principal's son was taken away to an insane asylum, and no one questioned it when she simply vanished. Their attention was for the 'murderer', who quickly escaped, only to commit suicide in the room where the killings had taken. This finally drove the school's principal over the edge. He soon followed his son into death by jumping off the roof of the school. So convinced were people the school was cursed, it was torn down and another built in this place. This new school seemed to lack the cursed nature of the previous.
Even this did not let the girl rest. Though the school was gone in the real world, it still existed in a form. So powerful was Sachiko's malice that she created a duplicate of it within a small pocket dimension. There, the spirits of all the children she had killed, along with her mother continued to exist. Those that happened to end up within that little dimension found escape to be impossible, and were toyed with by the hate filled spirit. That was the existence of the once kind hearted girl, hurting anyone she got her hands on without a shred of mercy.
Personality: While she was still alive, Sachi was shy and withdrawn, the very definition of a good child, who loved her mother and never did anything troublesome. There is next to nothing left of the girl she once was. After her death, her personality began to twist, distorting into something far removed from the person she was in life. Unable to pass on to the afterlife, she is the quintessential vengeful spirit, who wants others to suffer just like she did.
However, this isn't to say she's obvious about it. While her personality is much different then it was when she actually was the age she looks, she still remembers what it was like to be innocent. One of her favorite tricks to play when she is getting to know someone is to hide the cruel side of her personality. She does not simply enjoy inflicting suffering on someone's body, but also their mind. It could be said that she likes crushing a person's spirit more then anything else. Because of this she has mastered the art of subtlety, and developed a great deal of patience in order to make things as painful for the people around her as possible. When she finally stabs them in the back, possibly literally considering her sadistic personality, it will be with a wild grin on her face, mockingly laughing at the person that was foolish enough to believe she was innocent simply because she looked young.
This desire to hurt others is the driving force behind her whole being. She does not show mercy, begging her for it will actively amuse her. Its possible she'll pretend to be merciful, she might even seemingly release someone. But it will be to do something even worse to them later. It should be obvious that cruel is a good word to describe her.
Her years upon years of seeming invincibility might give her a bit of a shock when she comes to face to face with people who can actually deal with her. She is used to being the all powerful one, the one who's face causes despair and fear. She's used to being impossible to escape, and always having things end the way she wants them to end. When this stops happening, and she has to face the fact that she isn't the unstoppable being she was when she literally existed in her own world, it will probably make her quite angry.
Even in her own world she would get angry, though. Her moods rapidly shift from moment to moment. She might go from enjoying the role of the sweet, lonely ghost child one moment to screaming at the top of her phantom lungs the next. While she is patient, she isn't used to having to plan, to think of the future. Her future had always been steady. Torment and eventually kill the next group of people to get trapped in her world. This combined with the fact that people in this world won't be as helpless as she is used to might drive her to be a little more cautious then normal. Despite the fact that she finds inflicting suffering on others positively delightful, its been a lot of years since she was on the other end of pain. The thought of people being able to actually hurt HER might cause her to feel a bit of the fear that she enjoys inflicting on others.
Despite her youthful exterior appearance, she's had a lot of years to grow older. She acts childish as a way to fool the people around her. While as a spirit she didn't age bodily, she has had a lot of years to learn, so anyone expecting her to be a simple minded child due to her outwards appearance is going to find themselves surprised. While she is pretending to be the ghost of an innocent victim, she will do her best to seem cute, even stereotypically calling herself by her own name. This isn't who she really is, however. Inside she's a gnarled mass of bitterness and anger, who can't find any fulfillment in her unlife unless she is hurting someone.
Part of why she is so filled with hate is jealousy. She was never allowed to have a happy life. Her father died early in her life, and her own was cut short at a young age. She particularly hates the carefree sort, being more envious of that sort of person then any other. She is extra cruel to that sort of person, trying to ruin their happiness before she ruins their life. This jealous nature has lead to her quickly zoning in on who and what is important to a person solely so she can focus on taking it away. It is this sort of person she is likely to focus upon now that she is no longer has her little school to play with people in.
While there is 'next to nothing' left of her original personality, that is not the same as nothing. Buried deep within years upon years of rage is a tiny little spark of humanity that, on rare occasions, will surface. This facet of her personality is much like she was a living child. Anyone that happens to meet her when she is like this could consider themselves lucky. She would prefer to talk rather then harm, and would show the mercy her other side wouldn't even consider. For the purposes of this game I intend to have her sometimes show when the world is filled with positive emotion. Since her normal personality is unlikely to be generating much positive emotion, it probably won't be common. Even when this part of her doesn't fully gain control however, there might be the rare occasion where she isn't as cruel as normal. There is one example in the canon where she is pretending to be an innocent victim and manipulating someone, asking the girl for progressively more and more of her possessions. When she refuses to give her a hair ribbon, Sachiko flies into a rage, only to calm down when the girl says she wants to keep it because it was a gift from her mother. This is a good sign that even when the other side of her personality doesn't have control, she still remembers her past a little bit. Of course this rare bit of mercy didn't last too long and the end result was much the same.
Overall, she is a girl that is almost impossible to get along with, though she tries to hide this from others. She isn't interested in friendship and she doesn't feel like she needs redemption. The twisted sense of enjoyment she gets out of the way she treats others is about the only thing in her unlife she actually enjoys.
Abilities: Obviously Sachi isn't a normal girl. Being a ghost gives her capabilities she didn't have as a human girl. The first and most obvious one is that she is difficult to hurt. Though she is able to interact with world normally, she is also able to make herself incorporeal and phase through solid objects as if they weren't there. When she is like this she is unable to be hurt by normal means, though spells or weapons intended for use against spirits would be able to strike her. As she is already dead, she'd have to be completely obliterated for any attack to have much of a lasting effect, however. She is not restrained by gravity, able to freely fly. She is also able to make herself invisible to those without spiritual powers, though even a normal person might be able to feel that something was off with an area she was in.
Despite the fact that she is the ghost of a child she possesses strength beyond that of even a normal human adult. While this isn't the sort of strength that could be considered super human, she is strong enough to hurt a person with her bare hands, and could easily support the weight of an average person in her arms. As she is dead, she does not tire which is perhaps a bigger advantage then her above average strength.
This is not what makes her the most dangerous, however. She has a way of working her away into a person's mind. The longer they spend around her, the more likely she is going to be able to manipulate their mind. It can be a slow process, the person perhaps not even being aware of her seeping into their thoughts, or she can try to take control in one fell swoop. Its easier to resist if she doesn't do it gradually. This is a strong enough control that she has a character literally strangling themselves with their own hands at one point.
This is not all that she is shown doing in canon, however some of it is tied to the cursed school she ruled over. I am apping her with these listed abilities for now.
Alignment: Sosyne is undoubtedly the best fit for Sacchan. Anger is the emotion that drives her forward. It is what keeps her connected to the world, what makes her feel as close to alive as a phantom can feel. And at the same time, the other side of her personality, the more child-like one, comes out when she is feeling more calm.
Other: I'm aware that this game isn't a horror game and people may not be overly interested in graphic violence. If and when anything like that happens, I'll keep it tagged with proper warnings. Sachi isn't intended to be a nice girl, I didn't pick her journal name on a whim. I am not sure I'll find many volunteers for her to actually (temporarily) kill, but I think there is enough of a character there to play even if that is the case. Playing the role of the cute dead girl and trying to turn people against each other should prove amusing enough.
Sample: It had been a long time since the spirit of the girl known as Sachiko Shinozaki had felt this much rage. She had gotten used to the idea that she wasn't able to return to her little paradise within the death-laden halls of her school. What she could not get used to was all the vibrant life around her. So why should she bother? Without putting much thought into it, she decided that the next happy person she saw would be made to suffer. If she wasn't allowed to be happy, why should anyone else? It was not long until before her mark made itself known. An oblivious young girl practically skipped right past the invisible spirit. A wide, toothy grin came to the ghostly girl's face as a wholly unpleasant chuckle escaped her lips. "How cute. How should I play with this one?" Even when speaking solely to herself, her voice contained a mocking tone. She didn't really believe the girl was cute. That type was the type she hated most of all. Intent on seeing her happiness ruined, Sachi began to tail the girl. Just lashing out at her wasn't enough. She wanted to completely dismantle the girl's life, to make her FEEL it being ruined. The girl's only crime? Not already having a miserable life. This was enough of a reason to punish her in the eyes of Sachiko.
